Press Release

Rochester, NY – Diamond Packaging today announced a new partnership with PrintReleaf, a sustainability platform that enables companies to measure their paper and fiber-based material consumption and offset the equivalent forest impact through certified global reforestation projects.

The initiative expands Diamond's portfolio of sustainable packaging solutions by giving consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands an additional way to address the environmental impact associated with their paperboard packaging.

Through PrintReleaf's cloud-based platform, the paperboard used for participating packaging programs can be measured and converted into an equivalent number of standard trees. A standard tree is PrintReleaf's unit of measurement for forest biomass, equivalent to a tree 40 feet tall and 7 inches in diameter at breast height (DBH) at maturity. PrintReleaf then supports reforestation through a network of certified projects around the world, providing customers with documented and verifiable results.

“CPG brands are increasingly looking for credible, measurable ways to advance their sustainability goals and demonstrate meaningful environmental action,” said Dennis Bacchetta, Marketing & Sustainability Director at Diamond Packaging. “Our partnership with PrintReleaf gives customers another opportunity to extend their sustainability efforts beyond responsible material sourcing by directly supporting certified reforestation.”

PrintReleaf uses an industry-standard biomass accounting methodology to calculate the forest impact associated with paper and fiber-based materials. Its reforestation projects are governed by the PrintReleaf Standard and independently audited to verify project performance and tree survival.

“Packaging is one of the most visible expressions of a brand, which makes it an important opportunity to demonstrate environmental responsibility,” said Jordan Darragh, Founder & CEO of PrintReleaf. “We’re pleased to partner with Diamond Packaging to give CPG brands a measurable, verified way to connect their packaging programs with certified reforestation and meaningful environmental impact.”

The PrintReleaf partnership is a natural evolution of Diamond‘s Greenbox initiative and complements the company’s longstanding commitment to sustainable manufacturing.

Today, Diamond’s packaging is manufactured from recyclable paperboard, including FSC®-certified options, using 100% wind energy in a Carbon Neutral (Scope 1 and Scope 2), Zero Waste to Landfill facility. Diamond has also established science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), reflecting its commitment to combining innovation and visual excellence with environmental responsibility.

Diamond will initially deploy the PrintReleaf program in support of a new customer initiative, with the capability available to other brands interested in incorporating certified reforestation into their packaging sustainability strategies.
