Diamond Packaging Wins Three Awards in 2020 Paperboard Packaging Competition
Rochester, NY – Diamond Packaging today announced that it won three awards in the 2020 North American Paperboard Packaging Competition, the premier competition for carton manufacturers involved in the concept, design, print, performance, and shelf appeal of paperboard packaging. Awards were presented last month during the Virtual PPC 2020 Fall Meeting & Leadership Conference.
The competition, sponsored by the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) and judged by a jury of packaging professionals, industry experts, and professors, is a celebration of the industry and its creative potential. It is also an affirmation of paperboard as the more sustainable choice for packaging in today’s eco-conscious world.
Diamond won an Excellence Award in the “Cosmetics” category for Inter Parfums’ Oscar de la Renta Bella Essence packaging.
The folding cartons were converted utilizing Clearwater Candesce® SBS paperboard, cold foiled, and offset printed with metallic gold, PMS 2319 brown, and dense black inks, in-line with satin aqueous coating.
The graphic design incorporates a white outline that highlights the radiant floral pattern or disappears when the package is angled, drawing attention to the embossing.
Overprinting transparent gold ink over cold foil creates shimmering metallic effects. An overall embossed floral pattern adds dimension and contributes to a unique visual and tactile presentation.
The combination of color and textures beautifully complement the design of the primary container – a frosted glass bottle covered with three dimensional golden flowers, a smooth plaque engraved with the fragrance name, and a gold cap.
Diamond won an Excellence Award in the “Cosmetics” category for Parlux Fragrances' Illuminare Vince Camuto packaging.
The folding cartons were converted utilizing FSC-certified Neenah Folding Board Bright White Vellum paperboard and offset printed with dense black and PMS 72 pink inks, in-line with UV matte coating.
The graphic design incorporates soft gradients that simulates radiating light. The subtle overall embossed linear pattern adds unusual dimension and haptic qualities.
The combination of colors and textures beautifully complement the design of the primary container – an asymmetrical, sculpted transparent glass spray bottle with a curved metallic pink cap.
Diamond won an Excellence Award in the “Pharmaceutical/Healthcare” category for Procter & Gamble’s ARC Teeth Whitening Pen packaging.
The folding cartons were converted utilizing Clearwater Candesce® SBS paperboard, cold foiled, and offset printed with four color process and opaque white inks, in-line with UV matte and UV gloss spot coating. The inside was printed with dense black ink, in-line with aqueous gloss coating.
Overprinting process inks over cold foil creates shimmering metallic effects that catch the eye and invite closer inspection.
The UV gloss spot coating is registered to the foil embossed areas and provides a striking contrast to the overall matte finish surrounding it. It is also used to great effect on the diamond-shaped product benefits call-outs on the rear panel.
Multi-level embossed and foiled accents (logo, pen) add dimension and provide an upscale appearance unique to personal care products.
All of Diamond’s winning entries were designed utilizing recyclable paperboards and manufactured using 100% clean, renewable wind energy, in a Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) facility.
