Diamond Packaging Named Monroe County’s Business of the Month

Rochester, NY – Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks today announced that Diamond Packaging, an industry leading high-end printing and packaging company, has been named Monroe County’s “Business of the Month” and is featured on Monroe County’s website, www.monroecounty.gov.

“Diamond Packaging is a true bright spot in our local economy,” said Brooks. “Their success is a testament to their dedication to offering the highest quality products and I thank them for investing in our community and creating jobs for local residents.”

Diamond Packaging was established in 1911 as a supplier of folding cartons for the garment and bakery industries. Today, Diamond is a 100% women-owned, WBENC-Certified Women’s Business Enterprise that provides packaging and contract packaging services for Fortune 500 companies around the world. Their client portfolio includes: Avon, Bausch & Lomb, Beiersdorf, Coty, Elizabeth Arden, Godiva Chocolatier, L’Oreal, and Procter & Gamble.

Last month, Empire State Development announced that Diamond had been awarded $700,000 in Upstate Regional Blueprint Funding. The Upstate Regional Blueprint Fund was designed to finance business investment, infrastructure upgrades and downtown redevelopment that will advance New York’s economic vitality. The $120 million Fund supports projects that help provide a framework for future growth in regions with stymied development.

“With the Blueprint Funding award we were able to purchase a state-of-the-art printing press to help retain and expand our customer base,” said Kirsten Werner, President/co-owner of Diamond Packaging. “I am very proud of our growth and success and thank Monroe County for their additional support in this project.”

In addition to the Blueprint funds, Diamond will be financing the acquisition with SBA 504 funds approved through the Monroe County Industrial Development Corporation, bank financing, and cash equity. Diamond Packaging employs 225 people in Monroe County and will create an additional 100 new jobs with the Upstate Regional Blueprint Funding over a five year period. The company is located at 111 Commerce Drive in Henrietta.
