Diamond Participates in the Butterfly Beltway Project

Rochester, NY – Diamond Packaging today announced its participation in the Seneca Park Zoo's Butterfly Beltway Project by becoming a butterfly garden location.

Since 2002 the Seneca Park Zoo has been actively involved in bringing community members together with local conservation efforts through the Butterfly Beltway Project. Butterfly gardens have been planted by the zoo at businesses, schools, daycare facilities, community centers, and senior residences in nine counties across western New York. To date, more than 8,000 square feet of butterfly habitat has been planted in the Rochester area.

A representative from the zoo visited Diamond to plant the garden, which will serve as food, shelter, and a place to lay eggs for the Monarch Butterfly, one of the area’s most important pollinators and a key indicator of the health of our environment. A release of Monarchs followed the planting.

Sponsorship of the Butterfly Beltway Projects is an extension of Diamond’s greenbox initiative, the company’s commitment to research, design, and implement packaging solutions that are innovative and sustainable. The core of the initiative – designs, materials, and methods – represents a comprehensive approach to packaging that minimizes environmental impact throughout the supply chain.
