Diamond Wins Three Awards in the 64th Annual Premier Print Awards Competition

Rochester, NY – Diamond won three awards in the 64th annual Premier Print Awards competition, the world’s most prestigious international print competition. Awards were announced last month by the Printing Industries of America (PIA), which recognizes the creation and production of superior print communications. The event promotes excellence in printing and rewards companies and individuals who produce the very best in print media.

Of the more than 2,800 entries received, Diamond's entries were among those chosen for exemplifying the highest standards in the printing industry.

Diamond won an Award of Recognition and a Certificate of Merit in the "Print/Graphic Arts Self-Promotion" and “Calendar” categories, respectively, for its three-month corporate calendar, a long-standing company tradition and popular promotional item given to customers and suppliers. The 2013 carousel-themed calendar illustrates many of Diamond's capabilities, including creative design, Liquid Metal™ brilliant metallic UV specialty coating, UV gloss spot coating, multi-level embossing, and intricate die cutting.

The header depicts the nationally-renowned carousel at historic Seabreeze Amusement Park in Rochester, NY. The carousel was built in the Philadelphia Toboggan Company tradition, featuring hand-carved horses and chariots that have created lasting memories for generations of families.

Multi-level embossing creates a dramatic sense of texture and depth while a decorative die cut pattern conveys the energy and movement of the carousel.

The graphics were enhanced with four color process inks, UV matte coating, UV gloss spot coating (carousel, horses, poles, paisley accents), and Liquid Metal™ silver metallic specialty UV coating.

Diamond also won a Certificate of Merit in the “Cartons and Containers” category for L'Oreal's Professionnel Série Expert Holiday Box. The overall presentation imparts unusual depth and distinction through creative design, material selection, UV matte and gloss spot coating, and foil stamping.

The holiday box features PMS spot colors, metallic ink, and UV gloss spot coating over metallized paperboard. The carton was printed with one PMS spot color, black, opaque white, and a transparent metallic ink (simulating a foil). UV matte coating contributes to the beautiful aesthetic of the carton and provides a striking contrast to the UV gloss spot coating tightly registered to the metallic dots on the carton and inside backer.

Silver foil stamping adorns the APET dust cover. A vacuum form tray prominently displays and securely holds the products inside.

The holiday boxes were produced in five different colors and configurations, perfect for gift-giving.
