Prepress
|
 |
Prepress
We utilize an all-digital workflow, including same-day transmission of files.
Our Kodak Trendsetter® Computer-To-Plate digital thermal platesetter automates the flow of data from prepress directly to a high quality printing plate. This eliminates the need for film and several time consuming steps associated with traditional platemaking.
Benefits to our clients include:
- Faster turnaround
- Improved and more consistent print quality
- Easier corrections or changes

Offset Printing
|
 |
Offset Printing
Diamond's offset presses are capable of printing up to eight colors with in-line UV or aqueous coating.
Heidelberg Offset Press
Our new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 offset printing press represents the state-of-the-art in package printing technology, providing Diamond with an unprecedented combination of cost innovation and sustainability. It offers the latest in coating capabilities, including a flexo coating unit upfront (to lay down eco-friendly metallic coating effects) and a dual flexo coating unit on the end to apply UV, aqueous or specialty coatings.
In addition, we have expertise in printing on many different substrates including:
- Paperboard
- Foilboard
- Transfer Metallization Board
- Microflute
- Forte
- Plastic (APET, PVC, or Polypropylene)
Optimal print quality and accurate color reproduction is ensured throughout the press run by employing various control systems such as spectrophotometry. This unique system extends beyond traditional densitometer readings by measuring the color's hue as well as the ink film thickness on the sheet.

Inks
|
 |
Inks and Coatings
Diamond Packaging carefully evaluates all inks and coatings in an effort to make the best recommendation for your product.
We print with UV, conventional, and vegetable-based inks, and offer our proprietary Diamond TruCOLOR™ technology.
Diamond TruCOLOR™
The Diamond TruCOLOR™ color system is a proprietary method of color control, color monitoring and color matching, offering unparalleled quality and economic benefits compared to traditional four-color process printing.
The Diamond TruCOLOR™ color system uses just six colors to accurately and optimally reproduce over 1000 colors, while delivering near-photographic fidelity from an offset printing process. It is an efficient and economical method for reproducing a variety of vibrant and subtle colors without expensive plate changes.
The Diamond TruCOLOR™ color system also incorporates frequency modulated (FM) screening. FM screening is unique in that it varies the number of dots used, as opposed to amplitude modulated (AM) screening, which varies the size of the dot. The 20-micron FM dot eliminates all issues related to screen angles, resulting in smoother vignettes and softer color-to-color transitions not possible with traditional four-color process printing.

Specialty Coatings
|
 |
Coatings
Diamond utilizes a variety of standard and specialty coatings to protect and enhance your packaging:
- UV - matte and gloss finishes available
- Aqueous - water based; also available in FDA-approved formulations
- Pearlescent
- Iriodin® - non-uniform pearl lustre particles create unparalleled shimmer effects
- Metallized Flakes
- Soft Touch - enhances tactile experience and promotes consumer interaction
- Textured - provides unusual tactile experience
- Interference - enhances color and adds color shifting properties
- Glass - adds stunning glitter effects
- Scented - engages consumers and encourages interaction at point of sale; custom scents available
- MiraFoil - economical alternative to foil stamping which can be applied in-line. The environmentally-friendly coating is completely recyclable, uses no heavy metals, and results in less material and energy usage compared to an off-line foil stamping process.
- Cast and Cure holographic effects - our new Cast and Cure technology is a cost effective, inline process that produces high-gloss, holographic finishes through the use of specialty coatings and film.
We also offer film lamination in gloss or matte finishes, providing the ultimate in graphic enhancement and product protection.

Foil Stamping
|
 |
Hot Foil Stamping
We utilize two types of machines to increase your product's shelf appeal: a Bobst BMA stamper and a Steuer Foil-Jet Rotary stamper.
Our Steuer Foil-Jet offers unique capabilities to enhance your packaging. Its technology allows for unprecedented speed, and enables us to apply significantly more foil to the carton, while achieving higher quality levels. Furthermore, we can offer you the option of foil stamping on SBS or recycled board rather than using foilboard, thus reducing costs and lead times.
* For more information on decorating with foil refer to our technical sheet in the Client Login section.

Gluing
|
 |
Gluing
Our capabilities range from gluing the most intricate of designs to the application of tape and adhesive labels. In addition, we can also apply electronic article surveillance (EAS) source tags such as Sensormatic® or Checkpoint® prior to delivery to retail stores, thus saving time and maintaining control of its placement.
The acquisition of a Bobst Alpina Gyro Gluer further improves the company's strategic position for the future. The new equipment combines gluing, folding and taping capabilities in one pass and differentiates Diamond from the competition by offering customers more alternatives with reduced turnaround times.
Our new Bobst Alpina 110 II gluer is a high precision folder-gluer with an integrated quality system (accurate misfeed detection, mixed product scanning, missing glue detection). It is capable of intricate folds and offers unparalleled reliability.
