Marvel ComX3D Comic Books
Overview:

X3D Technologies, a leading provider of 3D hardware and software products, recently partnered with Diamond Packaging to develop a new way of marketing an existing product to the retail market.

Marketing Goals:

X3D has revolutionized the gaming experience by transforming still and moving images from standard 2D visuals to incredibly realistic "reach-out-and touch-it“ 3D images that appear to float in space, inside and in front of the computer screen. Their Marvel ComX3D comic books, which play on any computer with a slide-out CD tray, were previously packaged in jewel cases and sold through convenience stores. X3D wanted to introduce this exciting product to a much larger audience by distributing them through retailers such as Best Buy and Target. They enlisted the help of Diamond Packaging for a complete redesign of their Marvel ComX3D packaging.

Solution:

Diamond designed the graphics on a special .024 rainbow holographic foilboard to convey the 3D effect of the product itself. Printing two hits of opaque white prior to printing four-color process inks further accentuates the graphics. The front panel features a die cut window, sized perfectly for the enclosed lenticular card. The eye-catching card, which is printed with instructions on the back, also conveys motion and promotes the fact that it is a 3D product.

Diamond Contract Manufacturing, a division of Diamond Packaging, provided all of the fulfillment, including packing cartons with X3D components, and distributing orders to retail locations.

Our ability to step in and manage the project was the perfect fit for X3D. They were able to focus on their core competency and let Diamond take care of the rest. The end result is a product that truly stands out in the crowded retail environment.
